Sales is a luck-job.
Most of the time, you close a sales deal based on your customer's already-made decision to buy from your brand you are promoting. And most of the time it will go smoothly, unless you screw up by being rude or say something that cause the customer to change his mind. And you will never know when these people will come by, so you just keep waiting.
When people really intend to buy something at the pcshow, they seldom go in with no brands in mind. They will be thinking 'either fujitsu or acer or gateway or alienfreakin'ware' or smth then they will go collect brochures and browse at these booths. If they are not thinking 'dell' (hypothetical), they will never stop at dell.
And when ppl actually stop to consider your brand, they will look at the price first, then the specs. Seldom will ppl look at the specs first, then the price.
And from these few ppl, half will enquire more about the product.
And from these half, half will ask for discounts.
And from these half, half will finally purchase the product.
And from this product, you earn less than 1% commission.
Sales is a luck job.

Just came back from G-highlands. Wasnt precisely like what i remembered 9 years ago, maybe because i couldnt remember much of anything then. I only remembered it to have an indoor and outdoor themepark, but back then i remembered the weather being all too shitty to be going outdoors, so i stayed indoors and did not do much either. Only this year i had a good walk around genting resort. Dont ask me if anything has changed or not, i seriously have no idea.
I remembered the place to be slightly cold. This time round it wasnt just slightly, it was freezing at night with the strong breeze and fog. The temperature read 17degrees at midnight. I swear when the wind blew, my nose almost got blown off.
I also thought the place was small, but that was when i was stuck indoors, still processing memory with my small brain. Now i know genting resort is not small. Its not big either anyway, just medium.
The genting casinos are meant for old folks. Public card games included a game called 'casino war', where players are dealt a single card. All they have to do to win the round, is to have their card be of a higher card then the dealer. Round ends. Next round continues.
Lastly, the themepark has only one ride that is worth your guts, that is the tower-drop ride thingy. The rest are just plain normal. If anyone intends to go genting for the themepark, do not book the indoor one, all for kids only. Also, sign up for the genting worldcard thingy, application is free of charge and that gives you discounts for buying themepark tickets.

Nokia has 'comes with music'. Sony ericsson has 'playnow plus'. Apple has itunes.
Just becareful when using these promotions and dataplans. The cockster in me made me use the playnow plus feature on my phone and my simcard, and i didnt realise that the promotion was tagged to my sister's simcard instead. My phonebill came in 300 freakin bucks!
Dont worry, i didnt pay the 300bucks, i had to go hello shop and bang flip table and throw chairs and yell sparta and was rectified.
The PC show.
The PC show, similar to finding a girlfriend.
Thursday Day1 is like finding a girlfriend during JC period. Everyone is just browsing around, and people who closes a deal are just desperate to have their product, are impulsive, dont mind paying alot for it.
Friday Day2 is like finding a girlfriend during Army. Sales are bad because people are just waiting for the next few days, maybe could get cheaper.
Saturday Day3 is like finding a girlfriend during Uni first year. People are in a frenzy in closing deals and getting their product, afraid of it being sold out. Everything right now is while stocks last.
Sunday Final day is like finding a girlfriend during Uni last few years. People are desperate, dont mind getting 2nd choice products or display sets cos they might not be able to find good deals after pcshow ends!
After the PC show. People who cant find a good product at good price can still go shop around at retail stores, but may be expensive. Or.. maybe the products are old already.
Schools out.

It has been by far the longest semester, started 5th Jan and concluding only last friday, with the compulsory design mod (EID) that dragged on for a month after the epically long exams. Its all finally over! I feel that we should have won the first prize not because our product (a freakin' shoebox) was fanterrificastic, but i think my team is totally awesomesauce. Thanks guys, we are probably the most hippest team around.
Just for the fun of the matter, let me introduce to you what my awesome team has been trying to give birth to for the past month.
SCHUHKASTEN: Can't Get More Awesome Then This.

Basically its a novelty shoebox idea that can store at least 2pairs of footwear. Target consumers would most definitely be the working class females who would prefer their own personal storage space for their expensive heels. (who would want to throw their Jimmy Choos together with the family shoerack?) Comes in various designs for the outer casing, not just transparent (but transparent also darn chio can).

Individual modules can be stacked on top of each other using unique hi-tech state-of-the-art locking system, if more than 1 are purchased. The technology is too advanced for me to state here, just believe me. Damn hi-tech wan. Tony Stark was called in for advise on this.
But alas, we walked away with only certs (come to think of it, wheres my freakin cert ah) and not any prize, seems like we cant beat the tiongs who created a blardy solar powered car, YES there was a freakin CAR in the exhibition hall, a SOLAR powered CAR i tell you (no idea how that could fit into the 700dollar budjet, prolly one of the members is mao zedong great great grandson or what). But anyway i'd rather not rack my brains too hard for something which is only 2AUs.
And EID ended there and then. It was an interesting experience shared with great minds and great ppl.
Postscript. Exploding monkeys still would have been the better idea.
---------------------------------------------------------------
End of semester calls for immediate celebration.
On the friday after the exhibition, i went to meet my JC classmates. This was the first time in 4 years we ever had any sort of gathering, and was quite surprised that it materialised. My class was never this happening back in the days, and to even call for a class gathering would be quite miraculous already. Was rather interesting to finally know what my exclassmates had been up to after the graduation. I really think i sucked as a class rep back then, if i could twist time like hiro i would most definitely go back and try to be more enthusiastic and organise more class outings and school ponning sessions.

Saturday i met the usual funty guys/girl at clarke quay area. It seems that the 6 of us had become the 'usual' people already, not saying that its sad or anything but as long as we have major outings once or twice a year then that would suffice.
Anyway we had b.k.t at Songfa opposite The Central. Verdict: Rather smooth, not too peppery. The pu-er chinese tea tastes nicer than the soup. Prices are standard, expect to pay ard 10pax if you order more stuff like vegetables etc. Service was fine, but asking a cleaner to refill your soup would lead to a very confused chinaman.
After the dinner of double whammy tea we went to Jazz@SB to act bluezy. 3 of us were in dire need of alcohol in our systems that we decided to try it out when timbre@AH was snaking. Verdict: Go b4 happy hour ends, and you'll find an empty bar, good for chatting before the singing starts. Seems that erdinger pint draught was the only thing worth ordering. Try the nachos, they are damn freakin good (even the thought of the nachos right now makes me wanna go back there like NOW)
When we headed home after the session, we bumped into another bunch of ppl out on their own class gathering. And the funny thing is, we all stopped and chatted cos jacq knew a girl, and honghui knew a guy, and I knew another guy. The world is a huge friendster (or facebook?).
--
On Monday i met Wongs randomly to watch M v A cos we were supposed to go watch something but still had school. Verdict: slightly hilarious retarded children-type show which is not really for children due to the topic on marriages and breakups and how the guy was a self-centred jerk (which KID would really understand all this crap?) And by now i think all the kids in the world should have an Insectosaurus soft toy cos hes damn cute can.
--
Tuesday, my EID mates and I went to Kuishinbo, and we probably DROVE ALL SNOW CRAB SPECIES TO EXTINCTION! Enough said.
Verdict? Why have you not even been to kuishinbo? Go screw yourself. hahahah. Its prolly the best japbuffet around.

Wednesday i rested at home and thought of this blogpost. This would be one really proper post in a very very long while. Kudos to resting!
