operation innovate

ok its been 2 weeks into the post-examination, pre-holiday module, and things seem to be looking fine despite my childish ranting about how sucky it is to have my holidays cut shorter by a month. Maybe it isnt to bad to have this module as i'd prolly be at home rotting away to mundane life (tho i'd love to rot a bit more) than to do productive things. But maybe i'd find a job which would last 3 worthy months? Then again maybe not, i still have (army)camp in july, followed by another (school) camp. Anyway it doesnt really matter now as i cant really do anything about it, can i.

And i say its going fine so far not because im bluffing myself again. this module is a design module, something which i was actually trying to appeal for previously. this module allows me to innovate. and think creatively! no mindless mugging involved. But am i enjoying it at the moment? maybe not, due to the fact that the weightage is peanuts, and we only have a mth to produce an artifact (in sec sch we had a year) and the submodules within this module seems a little irrelevant.

Anyway we still had to come up with ideas for an artifact, and some ideas were

- underwear that can become a thong
- an inclining toilet seat for elderly
- clothesline that can be lowered to eyelevel
- inflatable slippers
- a walking stick that can become an umbrella (which was dismissed as an umbrella can already just be used as a walking stick)
- exploding monkeys
- nailclipper with really long handles so you dont need to bend over

but finally concluded with a novelty shoebox idea that can store 2 pairs of shoes and can also self destruct if people tries to steal your shoes.

3 more weeks to go. hope the idea turns out fine. still trying to get my hands on the explosives.

School aside, i still had time to squeeze in a few interesting things.

Went to explore ubin one saturday as the funty guys (and girl) figured we should stop growing old and grow young instead, and ubin is THE place to act be young again. I mean, what cries 'youth' more than to allow yourself to be exposed to the outdoors and the scotching sun and the mosquitoes and to feel perfectly ok with it? And to further enhance our youthfulness, we all hopped onto bikes and we realised we were really made for this youthfulness shit. Im damn young la. YOUNG

Anyway before reaching the island we had to take the bumboat ride at the (not so) new jetty and the fares were increased; we had to pay both entry and exit, and we felt quite scammed. But being scammed is part of being youthful. (and dumb)

We all cycled comfortably on our bikes. Some were TOO comfortable.

We wanted to make the very best out of the very youthful outdoorsy trip so we went to every single edge of the island including a swamp, a tower, a mountainbike trail and even trespassed into a restricted quarry zone, because we wanted to steal precious.. quarry stuff. But all we stole was a beautiful view of the quarry:After all that shit we realised that ubin was really rather small. We concluded our trip by 3 in the afternoon, yearning for more. (more aircon for some)

Review of ubin. Great place to escape for a morning. Great place for a guy to bring a girl for a date to bluff her how ourdoorsy he is. Great place for couples to bluff each other that they are very sporty-types. Not for a second trip, as you would have seen everything already. Would cost 2.50 times 2 for ferry, plus around 8bucks for bike rental. Results have proven that the chances of a person bringing mosquito coil but forgotting to bring lighter is very high, so bring lighter.

out.
